ABOUT DANRU

Danru is currently a professional cricketer contracted with Auckland Cricket. He relocated from South Africa to New Zealand in the summer of 2017 chasing the dream of professional cricket. Since then he has been part of multiple coaching clinics both at Howick Pakuranga and Takapuna District Cricket Club. He has a real passion for seam bowling and loves working with the next generation of cricketers.

ABOUT OLLIE

Ollie is currently playing for Parnell CC as an opening bowler all-rounder and was a contracted player for the Auckland Aces from 2020 to 2022 . Having been around the Auckland Premier club cricket scene for the past 10 years. Ollie has been working his way through his coaching qualifications and has completed his NZC Level 2 Certificate.

Having a passion for cricket from a young age he feels he has a lot to offer in the coaching side of the game and is looking to work with keen cricketers of all ages, whether they be a year 5 just starting into hardball, or a Premier cricketer looking for a fresh approach on how they can develop their game.

Along with playing at club level in both England and NZ Ollie has also been involved with County Second Elevens, Auckland A and Northern Districts A teams and from this has learnt to be honest, open and approachable in his attitude towards coaching both groups as well as one on one, and feels this is an effective way to help players of all abilities.

Ollie’s specialised coaching strengths lie more inseam bowling, batting and fielding, although he is able and willing to work with spin bowlers and wicket keepers at more of a beginner’s level.

BEN LEWIS

ABOUT Ben

Ben is currently playing for Auckland University CC as a Spin bowling all-rounder, having been around the Auckland Premier and Reserve club cricket scene for the past ten years. Ben has been working his way through his coaching qualifications and has completed his NZC Level 2 Certificate as well as a Bachelor's Degree in Physical Education and Health at the University of Auckland. He currently teaches at Glendowie College.

Ben has a long association with Auckland University, having played well over 200 games for AUCC and holds a Premier Baggy.

With an NZC Level 2 coaching certification and many years of club, school, district and 1-on-1 coaching experience, Ben brings great depth and knowledge to his coaching skills.

Ben's specialised coaching strengths lie more in orthodox spin bowling, batting, wicket keeping and fielding, although he is able and willing to work with pace bowlers and more of a beginner's level.

CONNAH THOMPSON

ABOUT CONNAH

Connah is a current player for Howick Pakuranga's CC premier men's side as an opening left-arm fast bowler and a handy lower-order batsman. In the past two seasons, Connah was selected to play for the Auckland U19s team that played in Lincoln. Last year he was also able to gain his NZC level one coaching certificate.He has had experience coaching a range of ages from first-year hardball to college First XI grades. His passion for the game is reflected in his positive coaching style, as he wants to help develop cricketers to reach their full potential.

Connah's specialties in coaching are in fast bowling, batting and game plan development. However, he is willing and able to work with spin bowling at a beginners level.

SAM VEAL

Sam has recently taken on the role of Lead Junior Coaching Coordinator at Auckland University Cricket Club, having previously worked there as a club coach for a number of years. Sam has worked with a number of teams in this role, including school and representative sides at Sacred Heart College, Glendowie College, Selwyn College, and EDCA. Sam currently plays in the Auckland University Premier and Premier Reserve squads as a Wicket Keeper Batter.

Currently having a NZC Level 1 coaching qualification, Sam has a keen interest in developing existing and implementing new skills and ideas into player's games in either individual or group settings.

HENRY CAMERON

ABOUT HENRY

Henry’s coaching journey began with junior cricketers in Wairarapa while representing the region. A move to Poverty Bay meant his first full time coaching role as Youth Development Officer. He continued to play and was lucky enough to experience cricket in the UK. 

Fast forward to the last five years when he moved to Adelaide. He continued to play and coaching in the competitive Australian environment. At the beginning of the Pandemic Henry moved to Auckland and begun as head coach of Parnell woman’s cricket. Since then he has been selected for roles with Eastern Districts Cricket Association, Auckland Cricket high-performance program and more recently relocated back to South Australia

Henry also has a strong background in health and fitness. He has been running his own personal training business for the last four years. This has given him greater insight into how to create performance out of athletes and in particular cricketers. 

My coaching philosophy is to create an enjoyable learning environment where athletes are challenged to be their best. If an athlete enjoys their training, then they are more likely to learn and improve to be the best they can be.

NICK STOBART

ABOUT NICK

Nick is currently the Premier Captain at Auckland University Cricket Club. He has been playing since a young age and has been coaching for nearly 10 years. Starting his career in Northland, Nick played representative cricket for Northern Districts U19 and was in the Northern Districts Development squad before moving to Auckland for University. This is where he studied Exercise Science and gained his Personal Training qualification.Since then, Nick has played for Auckland A, had several stints playing in the UK and continued to develop as a coach. His passion lies strongly in Athletic Development and works with youth athletes on their strength, conditioning and other high performance skills (mindset, nutrition etc.).

Currently having a NZC Level 1 coaching qualification, Sam has a keen interest in developing existing and implementing new skills and ideas into player's games in either individual or group settings.

Elijah Ivimey

ABOUT PIERCE

Elijah is current playing for Auckland University CC senior men as a Bowling All-rounder and has been a part of the AUCC Emerging Blues Squads. He has been playing at all levels including district rep level for over 10-years, recently touring to India as part of a U23 representative team and is passionate about passing on the knowledge and skills he has learnt to other players.

He is a core senior member of the AUCC Coaching team, having been a club coach for 4-years, coaching everything from softball, intro to hardball, to junior rep sides. He currently holds Foundation and Advanced Foundation coaching certification and is completing his level 1 NZ coaching certificate. Elijah is very passionate about being transfer the skills you work on in training and being able to put them into game situations. Elijah will adapt for any player, and aims to make sure enjoyment is a key part of training.

 Elijah is currently studying towards a Law degree at the University of Auckland.

ABOUT PIERCE

Pierce is the current Premier Reserve and Senior Grades Coach at Auckland University Cricket Club. Having also held the head coach position at European Champion club VOC Rotterdam. Pierce has played at Premier level both in Auckland and abroad whilst also representing Auckland U19 in 2014.

Pierce is a Level 2 NZC qualified coach with a passion towards player development specifically focused towards mental skills and all three facets of the game in batting, bowling and fielding. 

An excellent 1-1 coach Pierce is adept at coaching all age groups from Junior and Youth to Seniors. 

Currently having a NZC Level 1 coaching qualification, Sam has a keen interest in developing existing and implementing new skills and ideas into player's games in either individual or group settings.
