In our opinion, this is the best DIY toe guard option on the market

A Shoe Goo toe guard is a clear, liquid-rubber coating applied to the toe of the bat to protect it from moisture and general wear instead of using a traditional toe guard.

Instructions:

Here are the step-by-step instructions for applying Shoe Goo as a toe guard on a cricket bat:

1. Preparation:
Ensure the bat is clean and dry. Remove any dirt, dust, or previous coatings from the toe area using a damp cloth. Allow it to dry completely. Lightly sand the toe of the bat with fine-grit sandpaper to create a slightly rough surface for better adhesion.

2. Masking:

Use masking tape to cover the areas of the bat you don’t want the Shoe Goo to touch. This will help keep the application neat and confined to the toe.

3. Application:

Open the Shoe Goo tube and use your finger to apply a thin, even layer of Shoe Goo to the toe of the bat. The key is to wet your finger to avoid the goo sticking to your finger. Spread it evenly over the surface, ensuring full coverage of the area you want to protect.

4. Smoothing:

Smooth out the layer to ensure there are no bubbles or uneven spots. A smooth application will result in a better finish and more effective protection.

5. Drying:

Leave your bat with the toe facing the sky and allow the Shoe Goo to dry for at least 24 hours in a well-ventilated area. Avoid handling the bat during this time to prevent smudging or uneven curing.

6. Optional Reapplication:

If desired, apply a second layer for added protection after the first layer has dried completely.

7. Finishing:

Once the Shoe Goo is fully dried, gently remove the masking tape. Your bat should now have a transparent, protective toe guard in place.
