To maintain the appearance and longevity of your cricket bat, consider using Fantail Bat Wax, a solid form of linseed oil designed for easy and clean application. This product not only nourishes the willow like traditional linseed oil but also adds a protective beeswax coating that seals the grain to prevent moisture damage, providing a shine that regular linseed oil cannot achieve. Recommended for all exposed timber, Fantail Bat Wax is ideal for those who prefer not to use facings. It is packaged in an 80ml aluminium tin and contains raw linseed oil and beeswax, proudly made in New Zealand.

Directions for Use:

Ensure your bat is free of dirt and dust. Using your finger, apply a small amount of wax to the back, edges, and face of your bat, avoiding stickers and facings. Let it sit for 30 minutes, then buff with a clean cloth. Approximately one teaspoon of wax should suffice for covering the bat.

FAQs:

  • Q: For a new bat, should I use raw linseed oil before knocking in, or can Bat Wax replace it?
A: We recommend using raw linseed oil for the initial knocking-in stages, followed by a coat of bat wax on all exposed timber after completion.
  • Q: How long will a tin of bat wax last?
A: A tin provides 15-20 coats, lasting several seasons.
  • Q: Should I sand the bat before applying Bat Wax?
A: Yes, lightly sand with 180-240 grit sandpaper to remove dirt.
  • Q: Can I use bat wax under stickers, facings, or tape?
A: No, these items won't adhere properly over wax; apply only to exposed timber.
