We offer a personalised Bat ID service for all new Fantail bats.
Choose up to 10 characters to be vinyl cut and applied onto your new Fantail cricket bat.

Please allow an additional 3-6 working days for your service add-ons to be completed.

Knocking In:

We highly recommend giving your new cricket bat the best start to life with a Fantail knocking in service. We apply a coat of linseed oil then combine hand knocking of the edges and toe with our state of the art Smart Knocking in machine to complete the process.

Facings

Facings help protect and prolong the life of your cricket bat by adding a barrier to protect the blade from damage, moisture and dirt. We recommend facings for all cricket bats.

The clear anti-scuff facing with fibre edges is recommended for all bats as it offers a better protective layer than the fibre face.

The fibre facing is a slightly lighter and thinner option which is why you'll notice a lot of professional cricketers use them.

Toe Guard:

A toe guard is designed to protect the toe of a cricket bat from wear and tear and slow down the toe's rate of soaking up moisture.

Our Rubber toe guard adds a thick layer of protection between the toe and surface. It's excellent for preventing excess moisture and damage from crease tapping and sliding your bat.

Our Fibre-Epoxy Toe guard is considerably harder than the rubber option, which supports the vulnerable corners of the toe. If you are a hard crease tapper or have problems with cracking of the toe, then this is the recommended option.

Our Cloth-Epoxy toe guard isn't recommended for new bats. Instead, it's intended for bats that have substantial toe damage. We wrap a high strength water-resistant cloth tape around the base and surrounding areas of the toe, then apply epoxy to harden the structure. This option gives the most significant support and will slow down the rate of further cracking occurring.

Average Weights (this differs based on the thickness of the toe):
Rubber: 4g
Fibre-Epoxy: 9g
Cloth-Epoxy: 11g

FANTAIL PROFILE SHAPE 1

FPS1

Created for cricketers who want equal performance on the front and back foot.

The FPS1 allows for an outstanding pickup with optimum performance in the blade's centre. The spine peaks in the middle of the hitting zone with sufficient willow carrying through to the toe, allowing for excellent weight distribution and performance.

This shape will transform the way you play. The exceptional pickup enables you to generate quicker hand speed and have more control over your shots.

CONSTRUCTION

This bat conforms to MCC Law 5 bat regulations, which means that the bat needs will fit through an approved bat gauge with maximum dimensions of 108mm in blade width, 67mm in spine height with 40mm edges

Spine & Edge

You can expect the edge and spine to peak in the centre of the hitting zone. The edge and spine height will differ based on the weight & size you select, plus the density of the willow used. However, the edge will be between 35mm & 40mm and the spine between 60mm & 67mm.

Bow & Face

Our pressing technique generates a balanced bowed blade to deliver increased power and control. Our modern face allows for enhanced shot placement. The edges are boned (hardened) to strengthen and decrease the chance of cracking.

PROFILE

FULL TO SEMI-CONCAVED

The profile refers to the amount of scallop between the edge and spine. The FPS1 has a semi-concaved to full profile, equivalent to scalloping between 0mm and 4mm. This differs based on the weight, size you select, and the density of the willow used.

HANDLE SHAPE

Semi-oval

The semi-oval handle is our most popular choice as it gives you the best of both styles. It allows for a consistent and comfortable feel for most batsmen. The semi-oval shape on the bottom hand also gives the bat a better directional feel & means that the bottom hand isn't dominant, enabling the top hand to control the shot.

TOE SHAPE

SEMI-ROUND

Compared to a square toe, a semi-round toe increases the longevity of the bat by removing the sharp, vulnerable corners that can lead to cracking. The semi-round toe also assists you in sliding your bat into the crease with ease.

BAT WEIGHTS

The general rule is light bats for the controlled players and slightly heavier bats for the aggressive and attacking stroke-makers.

Heavier bats have a slower bat speed than lighter bats. The effort required to move the bat increases as the weight of the bat increases. A lighter bat will allow faster bat speed and increase the chance of middling the ball. A heavier bat will not be comparatively easy to middle the ball with, but it will stay hit when you connect with it.

Light (2lbs 6oz - 2lbs 8oz): We recommend this weight range if you are moving to your first full-size bat or into the finishing stages of your playing career, as it may help if you carry a lingering injury

Standard (2lbs 9oz - 2lbs 10oz): Most professional cricketers use a bat of this weight. It is an excellent balance between bat speed and bat performance.

Heavy (2lbs 11oz +): From 2lbs 11oz, you get a bat less about bat speed and more about blade performance. This weight range is for players who want to score their runs through boundaries and want a large and imposing bat.
